Slick Spike README File (revised) (version 2.0 (01-23-03)


   You are about to embark on one of my newest games! The graphics, albeit not flashy, the game is still challenging and fun, in my opinion. I'm not a big time game devoloper or anything, but I like to specialize in simplistic, yet challenging games. Sure, 3D games with polygon graphics might be your cup of tea, but the simpler 2d graphic games can sometimes be just as fun, if not funner. I miss the days of games like Gauntlet, Paperboy, Rampage, Dragon's Lair, heck, even the original Street Fighter 2! I hope you enjoy, what I think, is a fun-filled, challenging game. 


                           *** Story ***


             Slick Spike had it all at one time. He was the wealthiest of the wealthy, in all of the land of Slickerton. Fellow Slickertons were always jealous of his riches, popularity and fame. So, it's no wonder what happened to him, on one fateful day, not too long ago.

      The Blue Buffoon and the Giant Mimic were well known villians in Slickerton. They had always tried many ways to scheme Spike out of his money. It never worked. Until one day, they waited until he was out of town. The Blue Buffoon and Mimic broke into Spike's mansion and robbed him clean of his riches. They had stolen millions and millions by the time Spike had come back home a few days later. 

     Spike was furious with what had happened. He vowed to get his fortune back and to rid the lands of the Blue Buffoon and the Giant Mimic FOREVER!    

                           == Your Objective ==

     Your goal is to collect all dollar signs, emeralds, rotating jewels, colored keys to unlock the doors leading to the exits. Also, to destroy Blue Buffoon and Giant Mimic! All while solving puzzles, blowing up monsters and much, much more!   
                       

                           --* Features *--

* Collect dollar signs, emeralds and rotating jewels to open up certain colored doors that lead to the exit!
* Almost 40 levels of mind-boggling, monster avoiding, puzzle fun!
* Find the trigger to blow up your enemies or walls with sticks of tnt!
* Collect bonus cash, coins, gifts, hearts, stars for big points!
* Bombs, which you push into your enemies on certain levels, to blow them up to high heavens!
* Ability to save your game progress. (Only one game at a time)
* Boulders to push around, to either trap your foes, or to fill in gaps in that ground, to be able to continue onward.
* Teleporters that randomly teleport you to an empty spot on the screen. (Use these with caution!)
* Different colored keys to unlock like colored doors.
* Land mines which are integrated. Basically, that means if you land on one, you trigger them all. Unlike dynamite, these are NOT your friend!
* Tons of different enemies to avoid, trap, or blow up! 
* Stuck? Trapped? No problem! Press the R key on your keyboard, to restart the current screen!
* On levels 20 and 30, you must destroy the Blue Buffoon and the Giant Mimic!
* Much, much more!

Up Arrow - Moves Slick Spike up
Down Arrow - Moves Slick Spike down
Left Arrow - Moves Slick Spike left
Right Arrow - Moves Slick Spike right

F1 Brings up the help menu
F4 Goes into full screen mode
F5 Saves the current game
F6 Loads last game saved
R - Restarts the level
P - Jump back to the previos level.
N - (If you want to cheat!) Skip to the next level
Esc- Exits the game, back to Windows.

01-10-03 - Version 1.0 was released with 12 levels.
01-13-03 - Version 1.0a was released with 20+ levels. A couple of bugs fixed as well.
01-14-03 - Version 1.0b was released with 28 levels. A couple of more bugs fixed.
01-15-03 - Version 1.0c was released with 34 levels.
01-16-03 - Version 1.0d was released with 40+ levels.
01-17-03 - Version 1.1 was released with 48 levels.
01-18-03 - Version 1.1a was released with 56 levels (Including Extra Bonus Stages).
01-19-03 - Version 1.1b was released. Added numerous new backgrounds and added a new item, a bomb, into the game.
01-23-03 - Version 2.0 was released. 40 new screens in place of the others. New items, monsters, music, much more!
========================= Known bugs ==================================

 Just like with any game, it is a pain to deal with when you encounter bugs that make the gameplay not as enjoyable. I am working dilligently to fix any and all bugs that my game possesses. Now, I may not have seen everything, so if you could drop me a line, from my contact info below, it would be greatly appreciated. Anything to improve the game for you, is what I want!

 Teleporting issue- Sometimes you get stuck in walls. 

 Solution- Press the "R" button on the keyboard, to restart the current room.

 Game gets locked up for several seconds. Reason- Sometimes there maybe too many sprites on the screen at the same time or your system resources have been used up. Solution, either wait a few seconds to continue on with your game, or reboot your computer.

 Or, a song is waiting to load up in the background. Give it about 4-5 seconds and it should load.
